mNACTEC the venue on Saturday for Impalada 2015

The Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (mNACTEC) will be the venue on Saturday, 13 June, for Impalada 2015, a gathering that every year brings together more than 300 fans of Montesa Impala motorbikes.

The participants will visit the mNACTEC exhibition "Viva Montesa” between 17:30 and 19:00 hours, while the Museum Courtyard will become a temporary parking space for more than 300 Montesa motorbikes featuring different editions of the Impala model. The plan for the morning is to cover a 190 km route between Barcelona and Terrassa, with two marked shortcuts and mandatory regrouping points for the participants in Ullastrell, Manresa and Castellar del Vallès.

The gathering has been staged since 1979, and is organised by the Moto Club Impala, an organisation founded in 1997 with the aim of promoting Impala motorbikes, and breathing new life into the community of bikers who love this legendary Montesa model.

The exhibition "Viva Montesa" presents the Pere Permanyer Collection, held at the mNACTEC, a veritable Montesa museum, characterised by the fact that it includes models of every type produced by the marque. “Viva Montesa” offers a journey through the history of the Catalan brand courtesy of 67 motorcycles, three bicycles and two engines. These vehicles, accompanied by emblematic videos and images, have the task of explaining the history of Montesa from its origins back in 1945, highlighting a number of the most significant social and sporting periods of the era, such as Operation Impala, Operation Crono, the Montjuïc 24-Hour, the factory relocations prompted by the company's growth, global exports, advertisements and press reports, all the way up to the founding of the company Montesa-Honda S.A., in 1986.
