6th Francesc Salvà i Campillo Research Grant awarded

The 6th Francesc Salvà i Campillo Research Grant, awarded by the National Science and Technology Museum of Catalonia (MNACTEC) and the Ramon Muntaner Institute (IRMU), has been bestowed on the researcher Jordi Quer i Sardanyons, who presented his proposal for the study "From plough to tractor. Oral history of mechanisation in Juneda (Les Garrigues)”.

The research grant, which recognises studies into the different spheres which make up the industrial, scientific and technological heritage, history and culture of Catalonia, is named after the Catalan doctor, physicist and meteorologist Francesc Salvà i Campillo, a pioneer of telegraphy.

The jury highlighted the scientific interest of the project, the possibility of establishing parallels with other nearby towns and the fact that the study covers substantial technological changes in mechanisation and production processes. The jury emphasised their gratitude for all the participants, underlining the high standard of the proposals presented, and encouraging researchers and academics to continue their efforts in this regard.
