This work analyses the operation process for wide gauge Catalan railways between 1848, when the coastal train through Mataró first began operation, and 1935, just before the Civil War and the subsequent nationalisation of the railways carried out by Franco. The author studies the evolution of passenger and cargo traffic and its performance, describing income and expenses and providing an account of the evolution of operation coefficients, before providing the final financial results.
