Fotciència 06

A travelling show bringing together the best photographs submitted in the Fotciencia 06 competition organised by the CSIC (Higher Council for Scientific Research). The LEITAT Technology Centre, having taken part in the competition as the scientific dissemination agent, chose to host the travelling exhibition which has visited various cities around Spain. The images, divided into two categories, micro and macro, are accompanied by an explanation informing visitors not only of the experience of the photographer of the scientific image, but also allowing for discovery and comprehension of unfamiliar aspects of science in a more enjoyable and straightforward manner.

Fotciencia is staged each year to reward the most interesting, special or innovative images of a scientific event. It is a national scientific photography competition organised and promoted by the FECYT (Foundation for Science and Technology) and the CSIC (Higher Council for Scientific Research), with the aim of bringing the general public into closer contact with science through scientific images. The 2006 edition, in which LEITAT took part, featured 850 photographs by some 300 photographers. The exhibition that the technology centre has brought to Terrassa includes the winning images, along with another 44 selected by the jury and comprising the whole display.
